it was alleged that Goodman and Mulcaire conspired to commit breaches of s.1 of the Regulatory of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) by working together to gain access to the voicemail messages of three members of the Royal Household. The purpose of gaining access to the messages was to obtain confidential information with a view to it being published in the NoW newspaper.
We believe the press should be held to standards which protect the public, strengthen democracy and safeguard freedom of expression.
